Tax Enquiry Support Terms & Conditions
1. Service Overview
Taxd provides a “Tax Enquiry Support” service designed to offer users peace of mind in the event of an enquiry from HMRC. Filing through Taxd ensures the highest level of accuracy, significantly reducing the likelihood of HMRC enquiries. However, it is important to note that up to 1% of tax returns are subject to random checks by HMRC. Our Tax Enquiry Support service includes insurance to cover the costs of expert assistance should you be selected for such an enquiry.
2. Tax Agent Registration
Taxd does not act as your registered tax agent with HMRC. This means that all communications from HMRC will be directed to you as the individual taxpayer. Taxd’s role is to support you in managing these communications by providing guidance, drafting responses, and conducting advisory calls to ensure you are fully prepared to address any enquiries.
3. Scope of Coverage
The Tax Enquiry Support service covers the following:
- Drafting written responses to HMRC on your behalf based on the information provided.
- Advisory calls to discuss the enquiry, explain next steps, and provide professional guidance tailored to your situation (up to 10 hours, valued at £2,000). This service does not include acting on your behalf in direct communications with HMRC, submitting additional documentation on your behalf, or managing appeals or tribunal processes.
4. Limitations
- This service is only available to users who have filed their tax returns through Taxd.
- Tax Enquiry Support is applicable solely to enquiries initiated by HMRC after the filing of your return. Pre-existing issues or errors unrelated to the current filing are not covered.
- Taxd cannot guarantee the outcome of any HMRC enquiry.

As the taxpayer, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete information when filing your tax return through Taxd.
- Promptly sharing any correspondence received from HMRC with Taxd to enable timely support.
- Complying with any additional requests or actions advised by Taxd during the enquiry process.
6. Cover and Costs
The Tax Enquiry Support service covers the cost of Taxd’s support. This includes:
- Up to 10 hours of advisory calls, valued at £2,000.
- Drafting written correspondence to HMRC in response to the enquiry. If additional support beyond the scope of the standard service is required, such as legal representation or direct negotiation with HMRC, this may incur additional costs, which will be communicated in advance.
7. Exclusions
The Tax Enquiry Support service does not cover:
- Fraudulent or deliberately misleading filings.
- Enquiries resulting from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the user.
